We’re Dave and Michaela, the owners of Inherent Vine. We met working at a natural wine-focused restaurant in New York City where we fell in love with each other and with the surprising, complex wine in our glasses— and the sediment at the bottom of them. But it was through the humble neighborhood bottle shop that we found our footing, went deeper, discovered bottles that made us ask, “that’s WINE!?” Bottle shops were at the forefront of our wine journey, and we still believe they’re the most accessible, low-risk, personalized way to cut through the pretense and figure out what you enjoy. When we moved (back, in Dave’s case) to Portland in January 2019 we were happy to discover there was just one thing we missed about New York— bottle shops in every neighborhood selling exclusively natural wines. So in 2022, we decided to open one in North Portland, close to home, for us and for our community.
